Uncle Mike and Marshall: A Father and Son Portrait

Since we live in Raleigh and Mike lives in the NC mountains, our paths cross just a few times a year.  One is usually the Grayson Highlands camping trip.  This is where this image was taken.  In the past few years, Mike got married and had his first child.  A musician and teacher is now a father.  Mike has always loved the outdoors especially hiking, camping and biking.  I always new that Mike would be a great father.  Though it took longer than he probably wanted it to,  he has truly embraced fatherhood. I love Mike’s ruggedness contrasting the soft safe innocence of his son Marshall in this shot so I had to share it.
