As you can probably can imagine, growing up with the last name of Jackle was not always easy especially in the fall when Halloween was approaching. If I had a dollar for every time someone called me Jackle-lantern, I would be a rich man. There were other names derived from Jackle too but we will not go into them. After marrying my lovely wife Jackie Jackle and having two very wonderful kids, we have fully embraced the potential humor in various uses of our family name. Who can you laugh at if you can not laugh at yourself a bit?
Yesterday, it was pumpkin carving day. Jackie set the girls up in the driveway with their own pumpkin carving stations. I never need much motivation to capture some family lifestyle portraits and the Raleigh weather was just perfect for this activity. The goal was to first get all the gooey insides and seeds out of the pumpkins and then decorate them. Since the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings game was starting, I only captured the removing of the goo in these images. Football and the fall go hand in hand in this household. Go Packers!
You can almost feel the goo in this shot of Sophie.
She is all business and methodical. She loves baked pumpkin seeds.
Nothing will keep these girls from this job – well almost.
Savannah was focused …
… until our friend Ryan came with a distraction.
She loves to play with balls, pumpkins, …
… and her friend Ryan.
Here is the fruit of Sophia’s labor.
Happy Halloween everybody!
